Hi, I’m Vagelis Filippakis
I’m a Greek software engineer, and Milatos is a booking platform I built myself — named after the village of Milatos on the north coast of Crete, home of the platform’s very first host, Kiveli Apartments.
The idea came from watching small, family-run properties and rental fleets lose bookings for the simplest reason: nobody can answer WhatsApp at 2 a.m., and the big platforms charge 15–25% for solving that. So I built the alternative — a booking page that works around the clock and charges 2%.
More about me and my other work at filipakis.com.
How Milatos started
The first host on the platform was Kiveli Apartments in Milatos itself. Their booking page went live in under an hour, and every reservation since has arrived without a commission cut or a middleman between host and guest. That experience — a small property taking direct online bookings on its own terms — is what the platform now brings to independent operators across the Mediterranean.
What I believe
- Operators should own their guest relationships. Your guests’ emails and phone numbers belong to you, not to a platform.
- Fees should be honest. 2% per booking, €1.50 minimum, invoiced monthly, everything published openly — including what happens if a statement goes unpaid.
- Small is not a defect. A 6-room guesthouse or a 10-car fleet deserves the same booking technology as a chain — without the chain’s overhead.
